Summary:From the close to the posture in the June celebration, I reflect on the gender perflamboyances in the São João based on the experiences of the quadrilha Balão Junina Cariri in the João Cabral neighborhood in Juazeiro do Norte, interior of Ceará. To do so, I situate the performative production of the group before the places of passage that cross the bodies and the cracks negotiated by tradition. By taking into consideration the journey of quadrilha dancer Mellysa Giselly, better known as Pinto, I think about the presence of LGBTQIA+ people in quadrilha groups insofar as they party while doing the fechação. After all, the gender that dances in the body of those who play can appear stitched together through performative flaps.
