Summary:This article seeks to understand how black singers of the current Brazilian music scene, articulate singing and performance, within an afro-diasporic perspective. Interviews were conducted with singers Ellen Oléria, Luedji Luna, Preta Rara and Xênia França, who have been standing out in the current Brazilian music scene. The aim is to understand how the singing and performance of each of the singers is related to black aesthetics, and how this aspect has contributed to the construction of new narratives and to a greater strength in their artistic expressions as singers and black women.
