Description
Summary:In this article, we comparatively analyze two selected excerpts from the Georgics (IV), by Virgil, and from the book IX of De re rustica, by Columella – both referring to beekeeping; more specifically to the illness and death of bees. This examination aims to study the linguistic-literary treatment resulting from distinct generic guidelines that the authors give to their works. The study presentsfour parts: in the first of them, we present biobibliographic information of Columella; in the second, we briefly dedicate ourselves to the political-economic and social thinking of Columella; in the third, we comparatively analyzed two selected excerpts from book IX of Columella's De re rustica and Virgil’s Georgics (IV); and finally, we draw a kind of conclusion.
