Description
Summary:This text aims to reflect on the indigenous presence in the São Paulo Biennials, relating it to the recent and growing indigenous protagonism in Brazilian visual arts. It seeks to present, on the one hand, a brief mapping from the first edition, from consultation in catalogs, printed materials, videos, photographs and virtual pages that addressed the themes. On the other hand, to analyze the participation of five indigenous artists, who live in Brazilian territory, in the 34th Bienal de Arte de São Paulo, where fieldwork was carried out within the exhibition space, an occasion in which we combine observation and photographic capture (look); recorded conversations and interviews (listening); notes in a field notebook (write).
