Description
Summary:In this article we discuss how the strategy of incorporating elements that refer to nature has been applied in environments exhibited at Casa Cor Paraná - a design, architecture and landscaping show that has taken place in Curitiba since 1994. This strategy, historically more associated with spaces for women, has been (re)produced and updated at the show, in order to constitute notions about femininity and masculinity in intersection with other social markers, such as age and profession. To discuss this issue, we analyzed photographs and presentation texts of nine environments, exhibited between 2003 and 2016. We draw on the theoretical contribution of Gender Studies and a Theory of Material Culture, and build our analysis in dialogue with works from the fields of History of Design and History of Architecture.
