| Summary: | The party gives fluidity to the spaces, recreates meanings and materializes cosmologies. My interest in this article is to demonstrate the Cabocla Mariana's feast, a Turkish princess who crossed the portal of enchantment and swore herself into Amazonian lands, held in an Umbanda terreiro in the city of Santarém, western Pará. I will talk about the feast not as the end product of a great undertaking, but of the part that gives meaning to the ritual: the dance of Cabocla Mariana. In particular, I will "metaphorize" the spinning of the entity as a hypothesis of approximation with the Sama, the spinning Sufi dance of the dervishes to think: what Turkey is this present in the Umbanda rituals in Santarém, full of sworn Turkish princesses, caboclos and Indians? The dance points to a line of investigation capable of revealing how and why it can function as a discursive and affective social action in society, to the point of even (re)constituting a "Turkish caboclo" kingdom in the Amazon. |
