Description
Summary:There are a number of factors internal to and outside the school that can be associated with inequality in school performance. The theory of Pierre Bourdieu and Jean-Claude Passeron is an important resource for denouncing and combating such inequalities. Aiming to verify the inequality related to written performance, the data provided by Inep were selected according to the profile of the participants of the Exame Nacional do Ensino Médio and the results of the participants in the writing. The corpus of this study is 1.154.800, composed of individuals participating in the writing of Enem, in the period between 2009 and 2018, who obtained a score of zero or a thousand in their text. The cut was made due to the great disparity of essays with maximum and minimum grade. Through the analysis of the variable: gender, the objective was to identify the limits and possibilities of Bourdieusian theory to understand this phenomenon. It was verified that the theory presents some fragility regarding the use of this variable. Therefore, other ways were pointed out to perform such analysis regarding the results obtained in the writing of Enem.
