Description
Summary:A great deal of the diversity of molecules arises from reactions involving structurally simple substrates. In Organic Chemistry, one of the most fundamental mechanisms introduced to beginners is Nucleophilic Substitution. This process explores the reactivity of a polarized chemical bond of a carbon atom through the exchange of one of its substituents. This article addresses the main concepts related to the SN2 reaction and shows how changes in the system's constituents can affect the kinetic profile. The goal is to stimulate student's critical thinking about this topic and enable them to choose the best conditions for carrying out this process.
