Summary:This study addresses three aspects related to the preservation actions of historical educational heritage at the Laboratory School of the Federal University of Sergipe (UFS). The first one deals with the institutional history of the School; the second is an incursion into the institution's memory center (Cemdap), guardian of the institution's documental collection; and the third highlights the relationship between the increase in the production of historical knowledge and document organization initiatives. This investigation used school bookkeeping documents, school regulations, educational legislation, oral reports, and academic productions as sources. The preservation undertakings carried out in the School's documentation were accompanied by a substantial growth in the number of works within the history of education.
