Summary:This article presents rural migrations in the 1940s through literature. Its objective is to explain the impact of the phenomenon on migrants, valuing the contents of Seara Vermelha by Jorge Amado. In this fiction, the author describes the drama of migrants who circulated through the interior of Bahia towards the state of São Paulo. The methodology used is qualitative and follows the tradition of cultural studies, as results and conclusions a comparative reading is carried out between historical facts and fictional production in order to find correlations, recognizing the potential of the novel in describing the migratory process.
