| Summary: | This text is inspired by Josué de Castro, a pioneer in studies of hunger in Brazil. In more recent research, despite the wealth of theoretical debate and statistical information, few works more closely articulate hunger and migration. We seek to contribute to overcoming this gap. Without claiming to encompass the entire history of hunger or to exhaust the theme, which is very broad and complex, we propose a panoramic look at the issue, highlighting its historical character in Brazil with the famous Edicts of cassava finta, by Maurício of Nassau, passing through the formulation and implementation of public policies such as Fome Zero and CONSEA, to popular strategies such as Quintais Maravilha to prevent and combat hunger and forced migration. The research method consisted of selecting and dialoguing with the specialized bibliography, participant observation in public hearings, and experiences presented by popular movements on the theme. |
