Description
Summary:The article's research problem is the apparent incompatibility between environmental conservation and the rights of traditional communities. The question that guides us is how a traditional community organizes itself to reconcile its rights with the objectives of environmental conservation in protected areas. Our objective is to describe the elaboration process of a Traditional Use Plan for some caiçara communities of the Mosaic of Conservation Units Jureia-Itatins/SP. This experiment resulted in a partnership between caiçara researchers and academic researchers in the natural, social and legal sciences, as well as demonstrating that it is possible to reconcile rights of traditional communities and environmental conservation.
