| Summary: | I return to the essay published in 2007, in Ruris magazine, under the title "Agrarian Narratives and the Death of the Peasantry. In it I mentioned the absence of implications of the considerations about the dissolution and transfiguration of the concept of peasantry for agrarian policy and, in particular, for agrarian reform. In the current scenario, the agrarian issue is again evident as a national issue. It is present on fronts: the demand for indigenous lands awaiting demarcation, the demand for quilombola territories, the demand for caiçaras, coconut breakers, peasants from the pasture background, faxinalenses, sertanejos, and in short the “nominalist” categories that are now conceptually and politically unified as traditional communities – and the renewed landless demand for latifundia. |
