| Summary: | The aim of this study was to investigate how the media, specifically audiovisual media, can contribute to the process of teaching and learning science, with regard to the theme of Global Warming. Our technical procedure was bibliographical research, and we surveyed converging works on the subject in question. Through the studies, we found that the media have ample potential when it comes to their use in science teaching, and specifically with regard to audiovisuals, we observed that the authors point out that the instrumental nature of these resources should be replaced by their analytical use. In relation to the topic of Global Warming, we note that audiovisuals can be a rich resource for critically dealing with the messages disseminated on this subject, in which teachers will be able to promote understanding of the social issues of science, such as credibility, credentials, expertise and conflicts of interest of those who speak for science in the media. |
