Description
Summary:The improper disposal of sewage poses risks to human health and the environment. One of the areas most affected by the lack of basic sanitation is rural zones. In this scenario, the present research and extension project proposed an intervention in a rural region of the municipality of Campinas through the installation of a participatory rural diagnosis, information exchange activities with the community, and the installation of three pilot units for sewage treatment that served as an educational base to disseminate good sanitation practices. The project managed to involve extension students and professors from UNICAMP, as well as the community itself. Furthermore, good practices related to sanitation were spread in the region through educational booklets and videos, developed to assist in the replication of information and the transformation of reality.
