description The aim of this article is to pursue the trajectory of the painting The Act of the Coronation of Your Majesty the Emperor, painted by the French artist François-René Moreaux in 1842. From this study seeks to problematize the appropriation of this painting of history, the uses of the past mobilized from it, according to the political configurations of the contexts to which such work was inserted and manipulated by the agents involved, either by the imperial family in exile in France, the characters responsible for their repatriation to Brazil in 1975, on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the birth of d. Pedro II.
