Description
Summary:The concern of the Colombian State for the health of the population meant configuring, since 1886, an entire apparatus of medical science that guaranteed the sustainability of a national physical force and sustained production and work capacity. This is how this state concern, regarding health, established a hygienic discourse that spread, especially during the first half of the 20th century, which was reflected in abundant literature, manuals, and compendiums, related to the obligation that Individuals had to take care of their health, that of their family and, consequently, the well-being of the country. In this way, the issues of hygiene and cleanliness began to occupy a preferential place in the school, a space where the doctor and the teacher, despite the differences, worked for the health of the schoolchildren.
