Description
Summary:The present work aimed to describe and analyze an investigative teaching sequence carried out with a class of students from a public school in Angra dos Reis, RJ. Nowadays, scientific and geographic literacy can be an ally in the literacy of students in the early years of elementary school, especially where access to information and social media compete with children's attention. In this sense, research-based teaching can recover the meaning of learning scientific knowledge and help students' literacy. The investigative sequence was carried out in three stages. At each stage, activities were developed that stimulated the construction of scientific knowledge and reading and writing processes. In general, it is clear that students, when studying a scientific topic, became involved in their mother tongue learning process and began their scientific literacy process.
