Description
Summary:Considering that one of the ways to improve the quality of basic education is through the ongoing training of teachers, the extension project "Practices for Teaching and Learning Statistics in the Early Years with resources from the Mathematics Teaching Laboratory” proposed two extension actions, which were developed at the Federal Institute of Education, Science, and Technology of São Paulo, Bragança Paulista Campus. Both activities were aimed at teachers who teach mathematics. One action consisted of a series of four pedagogical workshops, while other was the course "Practice of Teaching and Learning Mathematics in the Early Years: Statistics." The activities were based on bibliographic research, adapted and discussed, and the materials used were produced by the executing team. The course classes and workshops took place on Saturday mornings and were taught by two professors with the support of three students from the Mathematics Education program at the campus. This experience is reported in this article.
