Description
Summary:This study analyzed the spontaneous memories of five adults who visited the Museu Histórico Nacional, Rio de Janeiro, eight months after the visit with their families. The research used a structural and content analysis approach to the statements produced, employing trigger codes for memorable experiences in museums and decolonial theories. The memories highlighted episodic aspects (chronology of past events) and semantic aspects (concepts and contents). Three participants maintained an uncritical stance, while two adopted a reflective perspective. The memories highlighted figures of power in history and in the background the peoples subordinated in the colonization process, in line with the museum's approach, which emphasizes historical heroes in its narrative.
