Description
Summary:This article seeks to analyze the construction of the concept of family farming in Brazil. To this end, it examines government documents, public policies and legislation on the subject, intertwining anti-black dimensions present in the archives and the prioritization of European-type farmers as an emblematic case of success. Finally, it points out how the definition of the characteristics and operationalization of the concept of family farmer in public rural development policies has served to enhance and feed back into forms of hierarchization and indignity based on racial selectivity and the privileging of white lives to the detriment of other racial groups.
