Description
Summary:This work is a theoretical reflection on the role that Indigenous women's literature plays in the current political landscape. By making the cause public, Indigenous-authored writing manifests the historical subjectivity of this population and positions itself in defense of Indigenous bodies and territories. By revealing other worlds and their constituents, this literature delineates Indigenous knowledge about non-Indigenous society and publicizes the cause as a political and politicizing action. Laden with emotion, affection, sensitivity, and also with criticism of non-Indigenous society, Indigenous literature sparks cosmologies and knowledge, adding to the struggle in defense of Indigenous bodies and territories. In a flash of worlds and their constituents, contemporary Indigenous literature territorializes the field of writing and knowledge in the face of historical-colonial erasure, while reclaiming the sovereignty of its narratives and recounting Indigenous trajectories and resistances.
