Description
Summary:This article is dedicated to understanding the dynamics of the scientific field regarding the thematic subarea of Popular Music in Brazil conducted through ethnographic work in the archives from the National Association for Research and Postgraduate Studies in Music – ANPPOM. Epistemic and theoretical-methodological categories aimed at the constitution of the subfield are identified and debated (Menezes Bastos, 1999; Travassos, 2005) referring to the notion of style factor, as coined by Cardoso de Oliveira (2023), related to the constitution of discursive elements and operational concepts associated with certain disciplinary matrices. The article places special emphasis on highlighting the construction of epistemic and stylistic differences between the disciplinary fields of Popular Music and Ethnomusicology within the association, in addition to promoting reflections based on native discourse devoted to its multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary characteristics.
