The book, with a title in the form of a question, was published in 1985. The year had democratic euphoria (General Figueiredo left through the back door of the Palácio do Planalto) and many liberal maneuvers supervised by the Army leadership, which allowed José Sarney to take over a presidency. A book on Marxism was welcome; that of the friar was collected with great interest in the democratic field. |
