The delay between the arrest of the student leaders at Ibiúna and the decreeing of AI-5 is marked by discussion of “immunity” due to requested in cassation of the mandates of deputies Márcio Moreira Alves and Hermano Alves who have positioned themselves against the invasion of UnB, confirming the victory of hardliner. In December, AI-5 is finally enacted and so the “recess” of the Legislature and the dismantling of the student movement ushering in the most dramatic period of the military dictatorship. |

Neste artigo, analisamos um dos principais acontecimentos vinculados à luta estudantil em 1968: a invasão da Universidade de Brasília (UnB). Nossa hipótese é a de que esse episódio explicita a concretização do fechamento do regime, que vinha à tona com a ameaça de um novo ato institucional, desde as manifestações estudantis de janeiro. Embora essa universidade já tivesse sido invadida em 1964 e os protestos estudantis já estivessem silenciados, o desfecho político do ano de 1968 tem com elas uma forte vinculação. A invasão da UnB explicita que a “guerra” entre o Executivo e o Legislativo alcançava dimensão alarmante. O intervalo entre a prisão dos líderes estudantis em Ibiúna e a decretação do AI-5 é marcado pela discussão em torno da “imunidade parlamentar” devido ao pedido de cassação dos mandatos dos deputados Márcio Moreira Alves e Hermano Alves, que se posicionaram contra a invasão da UnB, confirmando a vitória da linha dura. Em dezembro, o AI-5 é finalmente decretado e, com ele, o “recesso” do Legislativo e o desmantelamento do movimento estudantil, inaugurando o período mais dramático da ditadura militar.
