| Sumario: | One of Hilferding's implicit objectives is to clarify the genesis of theoretical political economy for the English case. He considers the study of the history of economic thought necessary in order to underpin the current development of the discipline. The study of mercantilist ideas, for example, allows us to locate the theoretical roots of the categories that political economy will later develop to account for its object.4 The novelty of Hilferding's work is that, using the materialist method of analysis, he achieves delve into the history of economic thought of the period in which capitalism developed in its rudimentary form of merchant capital. |
