| Summary: | As we are immersed in the digital theatre, we are exposed to a context in which social impositions are greater than ever. In this period, where the digital sphere largely supplants physical interactions, the face takes on a fundamental role within the body-avatar. The femalebody is often under the most pressure from these demands, therefore transforming it by any means available is a common option. From filters to surgery, the modern person values aesthetic perfection above everything else. We find different representations of this context inthe work of artists such as Jessica Ledwich, Yolanda Dorda, Laurie Simmons and CristinaRizzie. |
