Description
Summary:This essay reflects upon the earlier texts written by the intellectual and communist militant Astrojildo Pereira, especially the ones about the polemics that involves Oliveira Vianna. It shows how the leader of the PCB faced the dilemma of the “nationalization of the Marxism” in Brazil concerning the interpretation of the country that affirms its historical particularity and denies the validity of the universalist theories in the understanding of our historical and political context. Thus his subsequent texts attempt at understanding the country under a Marxist viewpoint, analyzing Brazilian culture and seeking traces of a progressive culture in the country. This progressive culture, formed by the radicals in their context or “céticos voltarianos”, would facilitate the establishment of Marxism in Brazil.
