Description
Summary:This article examines some dimensions of the trade union revitalization debate in order to analyze the Brazilian case. It examines the concepts of social movement unionism and radical unionism to deal with the political and ideological characteristics of unionism during PT administrations. It considers that the main union federation organizations have assumed a social partnership and political moderation perspective which are inconsistent with the category of revitalization. On the other hand, the radical union polo building process is not powerful enough to revitalize unionism, given its widely minority character and its low shop floor insertion.
