Description
Summary:Ten years after the devaluation that ended convertibility, unions recovery in Argentina is an indisputable fact. Interpretations can be divided into three perspectives: statist, movementist and that focuses on the analysis of an historical tension in argentine unionism, the tension between the strong process of nationalization of trade unions and the strong grassroots organization in workplace. This article will point out some contradictions of the “return” of the unions in Argentina and analyzes, from some Marxist theoretical tools, the conceptual and political weaknesses that have both the statist and movementist perspectives. At the same time we present hypotheses about the potential of the current unions recovery.
