Description
Summary:This article recapitulates the history of the Complete Edition of Marx and Engels (MEGA, in the German abbreviation) since its beginnings with Riazanov in 1927 Soviet Union, but is concentrated on the recent period, after the fall of the Berliner Wall, when the edition had to overcome the danger of being closed. Through commentaries and elucidations about the important changes of orientation suffered by the MEGA, the author clarifies his critical position not only towards the orientation prevalent in the 70s and 80s but also towards that prevalent after 1991. His conclusion is nothing less clear: anyway, “the best of MEGA is that it exists”.
