A escassez de estudos teoricamente credíveis sobre esse colossal retrocesso é um dos efeitos da ampla debandada que o desastre suscitou na esquerda. Foi patético o espetáculo proporcionado pelas longas colunas de desertores, ansiosos para serem recebidos nas fileiras dos inimigos da véspera, proclamando aos quatro ventos o “fracasso” do marxismo, do comunismo e da ideia mesma de socialismo.
