El vector que orienta las apreciaciones políticas del filósofo de Tréveris es el de un principio, el de la vida humana, entendida como esquivamiento y satisfacción de la necesidad, y el de la libertad, como posibilidad de actuación ante la contingencia. Para esgrimir una “otra política”, se parte de alertar sobre los peligros de la mercantilización absoluta de la vida, y se lo hace colocando como locus arquimédico epistemológico de la crítica “el punto de vista del individuo vivo”.
