| Summary: | In this article, I deal with Nove, a kinetic-musical rite marked by sung poetry and collective dances, held in the Médio Jequitinhonha region of Minas Gerais. The Brinquedo is associated with the so-called beginning of the world, a time marked by enchantment, secrets, and in which all beings had the faculty of speech. By considering some of the elements of Nove, especially the device of alternating singing, as well as issues relating to the repertoire, I seek to detail and analyze them in order to argue that the rite ends up remaking, or updating, the so-called beginning of the world. |
