Summary:This article is the result of research conducted for the exhibition that brought together the collections of Egyptian art formed by two female collectors, Viscountess de Cavalcanti and Eva Klabin Rapaport, in Rio de Janeiro. This research endorsed the premises of the proposal and supported the curatorial approach. In addition, it pointed out a plurality of convergences, articulated the connection with the works of contemporary artists and inspired the activities developed during the exhibition period. Above all, it showed the collecting practices, the collector’s profile, the formation of collections, the sociability between generations and the different preservation strategies adopted for the artifacts in Brazilian museums.
