Description
Summary:A critical reading is presented on "New World," the painting exhibition by Ilídio Salteiro at the SNBA Salon in Lisbon, Portugal, in early 2024. The proposal is connected to some poetic (the swamp, the house, the bridge, the island, the wall) and plastic regularities (oil painting, layers of paint, organization in diptychs or series). Some locations of the excursional topography of his iconography are explored, selecting examples such as the Bridge, the Tower, the Wall, the House, the Paradise, and the Book, while seeking to emphasize certain topics of plastic exploration. The conclusion reveals an ethical and plastic propositional attitude that articulates his entire visual expression, solidly linking the most disparate references.
