| Summary: | José Luis Garci (Madrid, 1944) is one of the Spanish filmmakers who has most frequently resorted to the past to develop his films. At the beginning of his career he focused on stories set in the present, the Transition (1975-1982), but later he expressed interest in previous periods. The post-war period is one of the most present in his filmography since the late 90s and has allowed him to focus on both urban spaces such as Madrid and rural areas, especially in Asturias. In these films he recreates what life was like then, as well as the educational universe, teacher profiles and school spaces. With the aim of knowing the representation of the historical-educational past that he makes in his cinema, You’re the One (2000) is approached as a case study. |
