| description | Introduction: The Library of the Institute of Mathematics, Statistics, and Scientific Computing offers a 796 m² space with a welcoming architectural design, including geometric staircases connecting the mezzanines. Constantly evolving, the Library periodically reviews its technical and administrative activities, focusing on continuous development and efficient collection organization. Objective: To share experiences from the reorganization of the Library's spaces, where improvements were made to optimize the integration of public service activities and the growth of the general collection. Methodology: Through activity mapping, we identified certain tasks that could be centralized in one location. Then, we analyzed the physical space to determine whether the vacant room would meet the needs of specific activities and accommodate the collection's growth. This allowed for the reorganization of the Library's physical space. Results: The reorganization of rooms and the redistribution of spaces and collections resulted in a more efficient workflow and improved the quality of public services. The relocation of the Atelier to a room previously used by the Acquisition service increased productivity, promoted greater interaction among the Library team, and gave more visibility to its activities. With this change, the Library gained 258 square meters to expand the specialized collection, which grew by 40.17% from 2008 to 2021. These data help estimate future collection growth. Conclusion: Periodic reviews are essential for maintaining collection growth and the organizational quality of the library. |

Introdução: A Biblioteca do Instituto de Matemática, Estatística e Computação Científica, oferece um espaço de 796 m² com um design arquitetônico acolhedor, incluindo escadas geométricas que conectam os mezaninos. Em constante evolução, a Biblioteca revisa periodicamente suas atividades técnicas e administrativas, focando no desenvolvimento contínuo e na organização eficiente do acervo. Objetivo: Compartilhar experiências vividas durante a reorganização dos espaços da Biblioteca, em que foram implementadas melhorias para otimizar a integração das atividades de atendimento ao público e crescimento do acervo geral. Metodologia: Através do mapeamento das atividades, identificamos determinadas tarefas que poderiam ser centralizadas em um único local. Em seguida, analisamos o espaço físico para verificar se a sala desocupada atenderia às necessidades de determinadas atividades e se poderia acomodar o crescimento do acervo. Dessa forma, foi possível reorganizar o espaço físico da Biblioteca. Resultados: A reorganização das salas e a redistribuição dos espaços e acervos resultaram em um fluxo mais eficiente das atividades e na melhoria da qualidade dos serviços de atendimento ao público. A realocação do Atelier para uma sala anteriormente utilizada pelo serviço de Aquisição aumentou a produtividade, promoveu maior interação entre a equipe da Biblioteca e deu mais visibilidade às suas atividades. Com essa mudança, a Biblioteca ganhou 258 metros livres para expandir o acervo especializado, que cresceu 40,17% de 2008 a 2021. Esses dados permitem estimar o crescimento futuro do acervo. Conclusão: Conclui-se, que revisões realizadas periodicamente contribuem para a manutenção do crescimento do acervo, e igualmente da qualidade organizacional da biblioteca.
