| Summary: | Cultural heritage has become an important part of basic education. Partnerships between preservation institutions and the educational network have created projects all over the country that highlight its inclusion in everyday life in a variety of ways. The aim of this paper is to present the railway heritage of Campo Grande/MS and its possibilities for teaching history in primary education. Focusing on the final years of elementary school in this city, it investigates how the railway heritage is inserted into the city and contributes to the apprehension of elements of local historical knowledge and heritage education. Based on documents from this railway memory, in dialogue with the school curriculum and semi-open questionnaires with students, we show how didactic interventions that incorporate virtual spaces, such as google street, can contribute to strengthening heritage education and history teaching. In a city where urban transformations are putting pressure on an important and historic railway presence, the use of these virtual spaces in addition to physical projects invites us to capture perceptions and experiences of this theme in primary education. |
