Summary:Even though trade unionism relates to politics in different ways, its position as a research topic among political scientists is marginal. This article aims to qualify this phenomenon in Brazil, by combining quantitative and qualitative data obtained through the following methodological procedures: mapping of post-graduate programs in political science that approach collective action and organization, attempting to frame trade unionism within their interests; analysis of the papers that were presented and the discussions that were promoted in different editions of the main academic event in the area, identifying the productions related to the topic, the authors and the institutional connection; and, finally, the survey and analysis of doctoral and master's thesis in Political Science on the topic.
