This article also highlights some of the major current publications in Brazil that set the theoretical background for this practice in early childhood education. Finally, two narratives of experiences within CAS show a little of our conception and the experience we have in providing children with increasingly quality work. |

Apresentar um pouco sobre o trabalho desenvolvido na Creche Área de Saúde (CAS) construindo possibilidades de atuação em que teoria e prática caminham juntas em prol do desenvolvimento integral das crianças é o objetivo central do presente artigo. Para tanto, apresentamos um breve histórico da origem das creches no Brasil ao final do século XIX, considerando as concepções teóricas pelas quais a creche, enquanto instituição voltada ao atendimento de crianças pequenas trilhou até chegar aos dias de hoje, em que faz parte da Educação Básica Nacional. Também destacamos algumas das publicações nacionais importantes na atualidade que fundamentam a prática na educação infantil, e, por fim, dois relatos de experiências dentro da CAS exemplificam um pouco sobre nossa concepção e vivência em que buscamos um trabalho com cada vez mais qualidade para as crianças.
