These procedures are offered to Unicamp's community, through Cecom's Dentristry Department, since 1980s. The endodontic treatment, as all Dentistry areas, evolved significantly since then, and our department, as it could not be different, followed this evolution. With the arrival of new technologies, such as the micro electric engines and Nickel Titanium rotary files, the treatments that were performed with approximately 04 appointments with duration of 1:10 h each on the 1980s, now are performed in 02 appoints with approximate duration of 1:00 h each. This provided a greater convenience to patients and professionals, since it enables that a larger amount of people be benefited with this service type. Thanks to these evolutions, currently there is no more waiting list for the patients to have access to Cecom's endodontic treatment. |

O tratamento endodôntico é uma modalidade terapêutica que visa à manutenção do elemento dental na cavidade oral, preservando-se a função mastigatória e a estética do paciente. Estes procedimentos são oferecidos à comunidade da Unicamp, através do departamento de Odontologia do Cecom desde a década de 80. O tratamento endodôntico, como todas as áreas da Odontologia, evoluiu bastante desde então, e nosso departamento, como não poderia ser diferente, acompanhou essa evolução. Com o advento de novas tecnologias, como os micro-motores elétricos e as limas rotatórias de Níquel-Titânio, os tratamentos que na década de 80 eram realizados em média com 04 consultas de aproximadamente 1:10 h cada, hoje são realizados em 02 consultas de aproximadamente 1:00 h cada. Isto trouxe um maior conforto aos pacientes e aos profissionais, além de possibilitar que um maior número de pessoas fossem beneficiadas com este tipo de atendimento. Graças a estas evoluções, atualmente não há mais lista de espera para que os pacientes tenham acesso ao tratamento endodôntico no Cecom.
