| Summary: | In case of death at the neonatal unit, the care focus is directly oriented to the family losing their baby, and the health team stays in the background, but they also experience and suffer with this moment A suffering, which is silenced and denied quite often. This work's purpose is to present a systematic bibliographic survey, with an exploratory nature on the national publications, about the impact generated by a baby's death on the health team inserted in a neonatology unit. The scientific publication survey occurred from July to September 2015, through online searches in databanks and parallel sources. In this search, 44 works were found, restricted to only six after inclusion criteria assessment and complete work reading. The works mostly indicate negative feeling, with frequency of the following: sadness (4), helplessness (4), fear (4), suffering (4), frustration (3), among other, in comparison with other feelings, such as satisfaction (1) for having helped caring and relieving this baby and family's suffering and naturalness perception (1). Therefore, yes, a baby's death mobilizes painful feelings and grief on the professionals, which may cause damage to their mental health and in their quality of life, in case they are not cared and perceived. Thus, the importance of an eye oriented to the health professional is evident, so a care promotion can also occur on the team, through improvements on the professional training and actions oriented to the emotional support. |
