The purpose is to understand and re-signify illness, prevent and reduce emotional and physical symptoms, caused by the cancer and its treatment and receive the family's emerging feelings, providing a therapeutic listening space. This work's purpose is to describe the action of the Psychology Section on the Oncology Area at Hospital da Mulher Prof. Dr. José Aristodemo Pinotti – CAISM/UNICAMP, in the last five years. The Psychology acts on the Oncology area, serving women from the public health system (SUS) with diagnosis of breast and gynecological cancer. The team is made up by a hired psychologist and two trainee psychologists. The psychological services occur on the ambulatories, at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and wards (Clinical Oncology Ward and Surgical Oncology Ward), through multi-professional team referrals, spontaneous patient and/or relative demand and active service search by institutional protocols. The Psychology service automatically calculates the number of psychological services performed on the Oncology area. In the last five years, a total 14,000 psychological services were recorded, encompassing the psychologist's action on wards and ambulatories in this hospital. We conclude that the psychologist's work on the Oncology area is extremely important for patients and relatives, since he/she acts as an enabler in the relationship between patient/family/team and helps on the prevention and treatment of psychic symptoms resulting from cancer. |

O psicólogo que atua na área da Oncologia possui múltiplas funções, dentre elas, no auxílio da demanda psicológica do paciente e de seus familiares. Tem por objetivo compreender e re-significar o adoecimento, prevenir e reduzir sintomas emocionais e físicos ocasionados pelo câncer e seu tratamento e acolher sentimentos emergentes da família, proporcionando um espaço de escuta terapêutica. Este trabalho tem por objetivo descrever a atuação da Seção de Psicologia na área da Oncologia do Hospital da Mulher Prof. Dr. José Aristodemo Pinotti – CAISM/UNICAMP, nos últimos cinco anos. A Psicologia atua na área da Oncologia, que atende mulheres da rede pública de saúde (SUS) com diagnóstico de câncer de mama e ginecológico. A equipe é composta por uma psicóloga contratada e duas psicólogas aprimorandas. Os atendimentos psicológicos ocorrem nos ambulatórios, na Unidade de Terapia Intensiva (U.T.I.) e nas enfermarias (Enfermaria de Oncologia Clínica e Enfermaria de Oncologia Cirúrgica), através de encaminhamentos da equipe multiprofissional, demanda espontânea do paciente e/ou familiar e busca ativa do serviço mediante protocolos institucionais. O serviço de Psicologia computa mensalmente o número de atendimentos psicológicos realizados na área da Oncologia. Nos últimos cincos anos, foram registrados um total de 14.000 atendimentos psicológicos, que englobam a atuação do psicólogo nas enfermarias e ambulatórios deste hospital. Conclui-se que o trabalho do psicólogo na área de Oncologia é de extrema importância para pacientes e familiares, já que o mesmo atua como facilitador na relação entre paciente/família/equipe e auxilia na prevenção e tratamento de sintomas psíquicos decorrentes do câncer.
