Description
Summary:The hospitalization process always affect the patient&";s family in some degree. When it comes to children, especially in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), the situation becomes even more delicate. Various studies point out the importance of the family presence for the recover of child admitted to the ICU, besides of being a right assured by the Child and Adolescent Statute, in the art. 12, and also assured by the Single Health System's National Humanization Politics. However, sometimes, concrete conditions are not favorable to that. Currently, HC-Unicamp's Pediatric ICU goes through a reform period, being momentarily without accommodation to host and accommodate parents and caregivers coming from distant cities. It is the Social Worker's responsibility to contribute to the user access to their civil, social and political rights, being aligned to one's professional, ethic and political project. This work's purpose is to present information related to the referrals carried out by the Social Service after the social interview at the ICU. On the period from February to May 2016, 32 referrals were made to nearby towns to ensure parents' visit to children and teenagers admitted. Thus, since there is the legal permanence of relatives during admission, it is the Social Service's responsibility, in this social-ocupational space, to intervene to the patient's place of birth, in order to ensure the daily commute of relatives to the hospital, which has been a hard task, bearing in mind the State's action minimization scenario, due to the current economic situation.
