Description
Summary:PRODECAD is a non-formal education program, which is part of the Child and Complementary Education Division. This program serves university employees and students&"; kids, enrolled on the state education network&";s second shift. In this space, the pedagogic work contains Cultural Workshops, in this context this work highlights the project "Entre linhas e amigos" [Between threads and friends], developed in the Manual Work Workshops. This project was developed in 2015 with approximately 180 children, aged from 6 to 14 years old. In a nutshell, this workshop aims to focus on the relevance of Manual Work as an important pedagogic resource, able to involve various knowledge areas, since, in addition to provide interaction and socialization between children from various group ages, it enables the social, affective, cognitive and motor development. In this workshop, the importance of reusing different materials is highlighted, in order to stimulate the child&";s social-environmental awareness. This project was based on the Friendship Wristbands making from Kumihimo and macramé techniques. It began with color and meaning surveys; despite of various meanings attributed to each color, the positive meanings were prioritized, given Friendship as a synonymous of consideration, affection. From this research, a chart was prepared to choose the threads that would make their wristband, with the color meaning as reference. In the beginning, the children wove the wristbands for themselves, only after the brand new excitement, they started to weave with their relatives and friends in mind.
