When fear overcomes hope (an assessment of the economic policy of the first year of the Lula government)

The victory of the Workers' Party (PT) in the 2002 presidential elections created different expectations: dark for some, promising for the vast majority. The idea that the people would begin to transform Brazil into a nation became very present and finally seemed within reach.
